| Corrosion damage as a kind of degradation of materials during service. Thermodynamic and kinetic reasons of corrosion reactions on basis of electrochemical processes. The different kinds of corrosion (uniform and local corrosion), passivity of metals, stress corrosion, cracking and high temperature corrosion are presented. Protection against corrosion contains inhibition and cathodic protection, non-metallic, metallic and organic coatings. (Dr. Eckstein) |
